Inspired in the tradition of Preludes from Chopin and Debussy, the Twelve Preludes are harmonically and melodically linked. A motive of three descending notes in semitones (F, E, E flat) gives unity to the work. Each Prelude introduces contrasts of tempo, meter, pulse and dynamics.
